The Backstory
Why did I write this book?
I wrote "It's Already Been Done Before" without a main character in mind. It was during a time in the creative business of photography when I became overwhelmed with keeping up with the world which is fueled by social media and comparison. Turns out, most of us deal with these feelings at some point no matter our age... and I did what most artists do - close the notebook and put it on a shelf [for 8 years!!!].
Something sparked within me during 2021, "post-lockdown era". I had to make decisions. I had to put this out there. A common theme that anyone can relate to - comparison, self-doubt, discouragement, excuses, our own thoughts holding us back from trying, or doing, or experiencing life! It's what I was doing!
A little bird, a common sparrow named Rue, became the main character. Why a sparrow? An everyday, ordinary, small brown bird? Because sparrows are like us - humans - ordinary, everywhere... yet God knows every single one! Rue was going about her day of not doing anything. Yet because of her family and friends, she is confronted about doing something. Sometimes it just takes a new perspective to change your course.
(Sometimes it's dusting off a notebook and doing something with the words inside.)
My hope for "It's Already Been Done Before" is to peak curiosity in an unassuming way, to inspire artists, entrepreneurs, children, and those immobilized by thought and self-doubt to do and try and experience all their world offers.
